Victoria Cross Talk March 2025

Mark Smith, hosted by our Worshipful Master, Brian Franklin

At Marlow Masonic Centre, Mark Smith of Antiques Roadshow fame gave an extremely entertaining and informative talk on the Victoria Cross, awarded for extreme acts of bravery in the face of the enemy. Mark’s expert knowledge on the subject was there for all to see, he spoke for 45 minutes non stop, then took many questions from the 61 of us who attended, we had to stop as Eddie was calling us in for dinner. The Worshipful Master Brian Franklin announced he had raised £308 to go to his master’s list, which will be donated to Dementia Research UK.

Our Worshipful Master pulled the whole evening together, assisted by the hard-working Worshipful Brother Nigel Fisher, who made sure we were all in the right place at the right time, and I’m sure Vanessa did her bit, for which we are all grateful.

Special thanks to Eddie and his staff for the excellent food and service. Also, thanks to those who came along to support the Lodge; as you can see from the pictures, they were a very happy bunch.
