Additonal Officers of the Lodge
Almoner
The core role of the Lodge Almoner, in conjunction with the Charity Steward and Chaplain, is principally about looking after the pastoral care of members of the Lodge, past and present, and their relatives by keeping in touch regularly.
The Almoner’s role is often about reporting on Brethren who are unwell or have passed to the Grand Lodge above. However, the pastoral elements of the role go far beyond this. For example, in some cases, identifying where a Brother or relative may not realise the Almoner can assist can be identified in a simple conversation.
The Almoner also has the responsibility of updating the Lodge (with the Members’ approval) on how an individual is progressing through any difficulties or problems that they are experiencing.
The Almoner has access to both Provincial (Buckinghamshire) and Grand Lodge assistance when required, as well as through the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF) in certain cases.
The Almoner works with the Lodge principal officers, the Provincial Grand Almoner and his team. These are all well-experienced in assisting with teamwork in this area and provide a strong team from individual Mason, to Provincial and others who can give assistance when required.
